Etiquette

Barnes Cove is a diverse neighborhood populated with people of different races, different religions, and different points of view. Please be mindful of your neighbors and show them the same respect and courtesy that you wish to be shown.

Common Guidelines

The following is a list of simple, common practices that we ask each of our neighbors to perform in order to make our neighborhood a great place for all to live:

  • 1 Please keep your yards mowed, trimmed, and free of debris. This practice will help in the beautification of our neighborhood as well as show respect for your neighbors who work hard to keep their yards in good shape.
  • 2 When mowing your yard, please be respectful of the time and your neighbors who may sleep late and/or have small children and babies who may sleep late.
  • 3 If you are on the sidewalk side of the street, please mow and edge your sidewalk area. This looks great.
  • 4 Please do not leave trash cans on the street. Once the trash is removed, please store your can in an out of site location. Trash cans and bags should only be seen by your neighbors on trash pickup days.
  • 5 Please drive slowly through our neighborhood. Many of your neighbors have small children at play in the streets, and many of your neighbors enjoy walking through the subdivision. Your speed through the area should be no more than twenty miles per hour.
  • 6 Please park vehicles in your garage if possible. If it is necessary to park on the street, Metro codes say that you must park on one side of the street and not on both sides. Please do not park across the sidewalks blocking them from use. Please do not park in your yard.
  • 7 Please do not quarrel with your neighbors. If you feel a neighbor is in violation of a rule or safety issue, please call the HOA or email us using the information on the "Contact Us" page to the left.
  • 8 If you feel that your neighbor is breaking the law, please inform the authorities. Do not confront your neighbor.
  • 9 Get to know your neighbors. You just never know what they may have to offer you or you to offer them. This is our neighborhood, and we are in it together.
  • 10 Get involved. With your help, we can make this the best neighborhood in town. Attend your homeowners' meetings, provide us with feedback, and volunteer to work on a committee. We can't do it alone!
